The roots of
THE SQUARED CIRCLE were formed in May of 2005. Former TSC host, and T4
Sci Fi Guy Stuart Claw invited Lee to that months London Expo, which
was featuring an autograph session with The Ultimate Warrior, Matt
Hardy, and Rob Van Dam, as well as exhibition matches from the FWA
(Frontier Wrestling Alliance). At the time Stuart was working for a
different online radio station, but was still in attendance to
broadcast interviews from all the stars who were there. Seeing the
opportunity, Lee brought a camcorder with him, and along with Stuart, managed to interview RVD, Matt Hardy, Ultimate Warrior, and
Alex Shane. From there we incorporated the interviews into a weekly
video show - PLATINUM WRESTLING VIDEO in which Lee and Stu (later
replaced by Ben) would talk about the weeks wrestling news. During its
run, PWV also managed to interview Joe Legend, Paul Travell, Jonny
Storm, Darren Burridge, Bryan Danielson, and Zebra Kid. As the UK
weather got worse in October the show was put on hiatus, as there were
no locations to film at which could guarantee good conditions.
Lee and Stuart returned with a bang in November with PLATINUM
WRESTLING RADIO. A podcast audio show which took over from PWV. in our
first season we interviewed more of the top stars from wrestling's
history, such as Steve Corino, 'The Genius' Lanny Poffo, Nattie
Neidhart, and Molly Holly. We also gained an invaluable sponsor in WWE
Euroshop, who immediately provided us with T-shirts and other
merchandise to give away as prizes on the show. After a couple of
months of being pretaped we made the move to go live, initially on a
small network called 'The Dust', and then moving on Wrestling Radio
Network with a 7-9pm slot on a Sunday.
During this time, we were fleshing out the designs to launch THE
DESTINY TALK RADIO NETWORK, a network of our own, to allow others an
opportunity to broadcast their own radio shows on a variety of topics.
It also gave us the option of airing on two networks instead of one to
increase our listener figures. After a number of guests cancelled on
us in successive weeks, we decided to take a couple of weeks off
before rebranding the show (www.PlatinumWrestlingVideo.com was
expiring!!) and doing a dry run on the new DTRN stream. This did not
sit well with WRN who booted us from their network, directly replacing
us with VOICE OF WRESTLING: UK EDITION.
So THE SQUARED CIRCLE was on it's own, and without 3,000 members of
WRN's forums to back our show. We relaunched the show on DTRN and
started building from the ground up. With other interviews behind us
such as JJ Dillon, Barry 'Smash' Darsow, Bobby Heenan, and D'Von
Dudley, we had endorsements amd contacts that proved invaluable. A
while into it's run, we invited trivia competition winner Andy Evans
on to the show as a permanent addition. More recently, Stu has taken
leave from the show leaving Andy and Lee to carry on the TSC banner.
www.SquaredCircleRadio.com
was launched in July, giving us our own seperate website and forums
for people to interact.
In April 2007, after taking many factors into consideration we decided
to take a break from doing a live show and move into the genre of
podcasting. This is another new challenge for the show and will allow
us to branch out to the many users of iTunes and other podcast
networks. With new features such as a voicemail, an online photo
album, and a merchandise store, we hope to make the podcast even more
interactive despite the lack of a live environment.
We're getting bigger and better, week by week, and we will always do
our best to keep our fans happy!!
STAY TUNED!!
